About Us

Since the 1980s, The Blackwatch has been York House School’s independent student newspaper, named after the distinctive tartan woven into our school’s history. For decades, we’e provided a trusted platform for thoughtful reporting, diverse perspectives, and creative expression. Publishing year round, The Blackwatch covers a wide range of topics, from global affairs to campus news, student life, arts, and opinion pieces, reflecting the interests and experiences of our community.

Over the years, The Blackwatch has continued to evolve. In April 2025, we proudly launched our first online platform. This website expands our reach beyond print, giving students from all grades the opportunity to contribute articles, photography, and creative work in a variety of sections. It marks a new chapter in The Blackwatch’s history and strengthens our commitment to amplifying student voice and building a more connected York House community.

With respect, we acknowledge that we report the news from the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of the Coast Salish Peoples, including the territories of the xwməѲkwəyəm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Səlílwəta/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.
